Material defects – caused by tumors, fractures or infections – put a lot of stress on implants inserted for reconstruction, as it is necessary to cut out the load-bearing structures. Structurally stable requirements for vertebral body replacement implants include adequate support for the cortical bone and reliable mechanics for the vertebral body replacement implant itself. With POSEIDON® ST, the risk of subsidence is minimized by the lower and upper plates, which are as large as possible to ensure the rotational stability of the implant. Reliable mechanics prevent displacement of the implant due to stress reduction at the ends of the plates.
